This project is the perfect way to use those left-over scraps from previous designs. No keyring? No worries! Just recycle an old one from your keys so you don't have to buy anything extra - how cool is that?

This project is a great way to try your hand at macramé without feeling too intimidated.

It’s also perfect for those looking for an easy and quick project that they can work on in their coffee break!

Step-by-Step Instructions

Keychain Pattern

Step #1

Take a strand of 120 cm cord folded in half and take the loop end to make a Reverse Lark's Head knot onto the bottom of the Lobster Clasp.

Step #2

Make a Diagonal Double Half Hitch ("DHH") knot to the left.

Step #3

Attach a strand of 120 cm cord onto the left cord with a Reverse Lark's Head Plus Half Hitch ("RLHPHH") knot and then repeat on the right side.
This completes the top half of the first diamond pattern.

Step #4

With the middle 2 cords, make a diagonal DHH knot to the left.

Step #5

Close off the Diamond with a V-shaped row of DHH knots.
Make two DHH knots to the left.
Make 2 DHH knots to the right.
Finish off with one DHH knot in the middle.

Step #6

With the left-2 cords, make a diagonal DHH knot to the left.
Repeat on the right side with the right-2 cords for a diagonal DHH knot to the right.
This completes one section of the diamond pattern.

Step #7

With the same anchor cord in the middle, add 2 more diagonal DHH knots to the left.
With the middle-right cord as the anchor cord, make 2 diagonal DHH knots to the right.
This completes the top part of the second diamond pattern.

Step #8

Finish off the Diamond pattern the same way as the first Diamond pattern above.

Step #9

Repeat for one more full Diamond pattern below, excluding the side-DHH knots.

Step #10

Make a Gathering knot with a strand of 30 cm cord at the bottom.
Trim the fringe at the bottom.
