I absolutely adore macramé flowers and incorporate them in just about any design as embellishments.
Did you know that you can also use them as décor on their own? Like, with this pattern, you can make several flowers and place them in a little pot to brighten up your space.
Now, you don't have to worry about flowers wilting because macramé lasts forever :) Cool, right?
This beginner-friendly pattern only uses two simple knots: the Double Half Hitch knot and the Gathering knot.

With that, let's jump into creating this gorgeous little flower!
This project should take 10-15 minutes, depending on your skill level.
You can find all these cords and supplies in our shop. I used a 3mm Bamboo cord from our Lush range in Dusty Mauve.
For the center of the design, I added some Metallics cord, also from our Lush range. You don't have to use a different color for this if you don't want to.
Cord Lengths:
15 x 33cm (13”)
1 x 30cm (12”)
Macrame Knots To Know:
Double Half Hitch ("DHH")
Gathering Knot
Step-by-Step Instructions
Creating The 3D Flower Pattern
Step #1:
Pin/ tape 1 x 33 cm cord down horizontally.
Step #2:
Take another strand of cord and make a Double Half Hitch ("DHH") knot onto the horizontal Anchor cord. Ensure that the bottom end is slightly longer than the top end.
Repeat once more.
Step #3:
Take the right end of the horizontal cord and fold it underneath to the left side.
Make 2 x DHH knots underneath.
Step #4:
Take the far-right cord as the anchor cord for a DHH knot to the left.
Step #5:
Then gather the working cord and anchor cords just used together as the next Anchor cord group for a DHH knot with the cord above as the working cord.
Step #6:
Repeat the same pattern on the other side, mirroring the right side.
Flip the pattern over and make a DHH knot to the right.
Group that working cord with the cord next to it as an anchor cord for a DHH knot to the right.
Step #7:
Take 1 cord from each side at the bottom and make a diagonal DHH knot to the left.
This completes one petal.
Step #8:
Make 4 more petals for a total of 5.
Step #9:
Take 2 or 3 strands of 10 cm cords and place them in the center of the 5 petals.
Step #10:
Gather the petals together and make a Gathering knot with a 30 cm cord underneath the petals.
Make a loop with one end of the cord. Hold it against the stems of the petals, wrapping the other end around the stems several times.
Weave that same end through the loop and tighten it to fasten the knot.
Cut off the excess cords from the gathering knot.
And there you have a gorgeous mini macramé flower! You can vary the design to have four or six petals, change up the colors, or do it whichever way you like :)
