The Tutorial
Kami Wall Hanging
A beginner-friendly wall hanging, designed to gently introduce you to the calming rhythm of macramé. Take your time, follow along, and let your hands learn at their own pace.
About This Project
Where your macramé journey begins
The Kami is one of our most-loved beginner projects — and for good reason. It uses just a handful of foundational knots, which means you’ll build real skill without feeling overwhelmed. By the time you finish, you’ll have a wall hanging you made entirely with your own two hands.
If this is your very first project, welcome. There’s no rush, and there are no mistakes — only learning. Pour yourself something warm, find a quiet corner, and let’s begin.

Everything you need, in one kit
Our Macramé Welcome Kit was thoughtfully put together with first-time makers in mind — every cord, every length, every little detail you need to bring the Kami to life, gathered into a single beginner-friendly bundle. No guesswork, no missing pieces. Just open it up and begin.

Before you begin
How long does the Kami Wall Hanging take to complete? +
Most makers finish the Kami in about an hour or so. Beginners may take a little longer — and that’s perfectly okay. The point is to enjoy the process, not to rush through it.
Do I need to know how to macramé before starting? +
Not at all. The Kami was designed with complete beginners in mind. The video walks you through each step at a gentle pace, so even if you’ve never tied a macramé knot before, you’ll be able to follow along.
What cord works best for this project? +
We recommend our 4mm single-strand twist cotton cord. It holds knots beautifully, drapes the way you want it to, and is soft on your hands during longer sessions.
Can I make this in a different colour? +
Absolutely. While the tutorial uses natural cream cord, the Kami looks beautiful in any of our colours. Browse the full range in our cord collection.
With knots of love,
